1. What are your names, where are you from, and how did you get into
this business?
Basically there are four of us, Rek, Dips, Sav and Aman. We are all from
London, UK and we basically got into the music scene with some help from
Kumar from Heera. He basically helped us launch our first album and
we took it from there. Before that we had been deejaying on the club/party scene
for about 7 years.
2. How did you hook up with the great Lehmber Hussainpuri?
We hooked up with Lehmber through Dr Zeus. We are great friends and he
basically helped us meet up with him. We then went to record the
great vocals of the man, four in total.
3. Where did you guys get the idea of doing a boliyan track with
Lehmber?
Basically Dips just wanted it, it was his idea and he took Lehmber into
the studio one day and just recorded a whole load of boliyaan and mixed
it up to produce a fat track.
4. Have you had previous releases in the past or is this your first
shot?
We released our debut in June 2003, it was called OMINOUS DJs - BEST
KEPT SECRET and was released through Metro music. It was our first time at
the production thing, a bit novice. With the second release a lot more
learning has gone on and is shown in the music.
5. Who have you been working with, and who will you be working with in
the near future?
We have been working not only with Lehmber, but Daljit Mattu, Kuldip
Manak and Young Righteous from New York; he’s apart of the Royal fam crew.
Kam Frantic is a big figure that we worked with.
6. Who do you look up to in the DJ/Producer industry?
Has to be said, Bally Sagoo, Dr Zeus, Kam Frantic, Panjabi Hit Squad.
These are some of the guys we aspire to be like.
7. Which do you prefer: Hip-Hop bhangra remixes, or pure bhangra?
Depends on the occasion and all four of us are different. We have
different tastes and different approaches to the production, which made
Unfinished Business a good project to appeal to a wider audience.
8. Why are you guys called Ominous DJ's?
Watch out were coming its all Ominous.
9. Whats the name of the highly anticipated album?
The new album is called Unfinished Business, we are here to stay, and
have a lot more to offer.
