After all the anticipation and curiosity about all the teams, the night was over. The rumors came out to be true, Khalsa Junction danced with the girls from Shernia di Shaan (Riverside) and one from Michigan. LBC hooked up with Sher and performed as a whole for the first time ever. And finally, as usual, Bruin Bhangra was a huge success. Now, I wasn't there in person, but my close sources tell me the judges were legit! The biggest competition on the west coast proved trustworthy as the following teams placed:
1.Boston Bhangra
2.Khalsa Junction
3.Tie between Maryland and Vancouver V.I.B.E.
Now, in my opinion, Khalsa Junction is better then all of the teams listed above, and all the other teams that performed at Bruin. As usual they didn't get the respect they deserved by getting 1st place, but 2nd place isn't too shabby. The reason Boston won over Khalsa was because Khalsa didn't execute their final stunt...although the girls driving the trucks with the hydrolics was off the hook! Boston was simply amazing as they excuted their routine to perfection and the same can be said for VIBE. I had predicted two of the top three teams to place (Khalsa and VIBE) and those came as no surprise. Maryland did surprise me however, because NYBD could have easily taken their place at 3rd. NYBD definitely deserves Honorable Mention because they put on one hell of a show, as did UBC girls. My predicted Honorable Mention was not too hot. LBC and Sher had one too many dancers on stage and it looked too messy. That right there won't allow any team to place 1, 2 or 3.
All in all, way to go BRUIN! The Bhangra season ended with a bang and I hope it starts with one too! Good Luck to all the teams performing in the 2005-2006 bhangra season.

Preview: [May 19, 2005]
Bruin! Bruin! Bruin! Bruin! Bruin! Finally, the west coast's premiere bhangra competition has arrived with $7500 worth of cash prizes! The bhangra season has been great, but theres no other way to end it with a bang than of course with BRUIN BHANGRA! The teams have been chosen, the hype has begun, and now we will see who really is the best of the best of the 2004-2005 bhangra season. The teams are as follows:
1. Duniya All-Stars Co-ed
2. NYU Bhangra
3. UCI Rangla Punjab
4. Maryland Bhangra
5. USC Punjabi Soormay
6. Vancouver V.I.B.E.
7. NYBD-NYC's Finest
8. Boston Bhangra
9. Sher Foundation/LBC
10.UBC Girlz
and last but not least...
11. Khalsa Junction
I myself have never seen a competiton this stacked. The audience at bruin will be in for the show of their lives as these teams will bring everything they/ve got one last time to determine who is the best team in North America. My personal picks for bruin are as follows:
1. Khalsa Junction- I've heard so many say that they're boring, they're old, and that they need new songs and new routines....Well guess what, talkall you want but the bottom line is these guys are the best there was is and ever will be. They bring it to the tabel time in and time out and they deserve to be given the title as North America champs.
2. UBC Girlz- WOW. These girls are know what bhangra is all about and they've proved it by placing at competitons in Canada and the US. Same great girls, same great talent, same great finish.
3. Vancouver V.I.B.E.- Next to Khalsa Junction, the next best thing is V.I.B.E. I don't see why they can't place at Bruin again, after all, they are one of the best teams of all time.
Honorable Mention: Sher Foundation/LBC....these two dynamic teams will hook up and rock the house with something never seen before....The only reason I don't have them placing is because they haven't had much time to practice!
Finally, the rumors. They're everywhere, so I might as well let them out inot the open. Aside from Sher hooking up with LBC, they supposedly are going to have a mascot dressed as a Lion...will it impress the judges, I don't know. Khalsa Junction is rumored to have gone coed...but for only a short segment of their routine as they picked up girls from Virsa Punjab Da (Riverside Coed) and possibly another from People's Bhangra (UCSD).
All thats left to say is ladies and gentlmen, LETS GET READY TO RUMBLE!
Come out and support Bruin Bhangra. Bikram Singh is the special guest this year and he will be at the Pre-Party, the show itself, and at the afterparty. Punjabisongs.com will also be in the house as we are sponsoring the show.
