Yuba City, CA - Mela - Lehmber All Out !!!

Awesome acts by Lehmber and Sidhu top off another wonderful event put together by the Punjabi American Heritage Society, May 29, 2005.

YUBA CITY MELA 2005!

W-O-W! Thats all that is left to be said after watching Jassi Sidhu and Lehmber Hussianpuri rock the house for over 3 hours!! Jassi Sidhu came on stage at about 5pm and came out to his own intro music. He had two dholis along side him as several performers from the day danced with him on stage. He started out by singing his classics, Agg and Veerji. He finished off by doing Jawani and the unreleased smashing hit Dil Mangdi.

He was supposed to come on again, but once Lehmber hit the stage, the night was over for Mr. Jassi Sidhu. I personally wanted to see the man come out and do Aashqui and Majajne, but it didn't happen. The crowd still gave him his respect and danced away at Jassi Sidhu's 4 awesome tracks. Once Jassi Sidhu left the stage the chanting began...Lehmber!...Lehmber!...Lehmber! And the musical mastermind dressed in a blue/tile bhangra outfit came onto the stage and never looked back. He wasted no time as he sang hit after hit including Sachiyaan Sunayaan, Das Ja, Ah Ni Kuriya, Challa, Bhangra Punjabiyaan Ne, Uddeh Mittran, etc. The audience were going nuts and had to be restrained by Yuba City Police. It was just insane as Lehmber made people rise to their feet and dance the night away as he performed with a live band (Kalikwest).

He continuously asked the crowd for which tracks they wanted to hear and he continuously delivered. He even got to the point where he was free-styling and doing old school boliyaan! It was crazy as the words "GIddha pah nikiya ni mah jaja pitiya!" I could not beleive my ears as Lehmber spit out one boli after the other. Two and a half hours later, Lehmber was done, but the people wanted more as they were still chanting his name. Before he walked off the stage, I got the privilege of dancing on stage with him and shaking his hand. For those of you that missed the spectacular show, shame on you. As for those of you that exposed your ears to pure harmony, congratulations, because this was one show that won't be forgotten.
